Gosport Community Safety Partnership

What is it?
Gosport Community Safety Partnership was established in 1998 after the Government became increasingly aware that traditional policing methods alone were not achieving sufficient impact on levels of Crime and Disorder.  Five responsible authorities were asked to work together in partnership to reduce crime and disorder and to tackle substance misuse.  Those 'responsible authorities' are Gosport Borough Council, Gosport Police, Police Authority, Fire Authority and the Primary Care Trust.  These agencies form the 'strategic board' of the partnership and they meet approximately every three months.  However, there are many other members of the partnership e.g. Youth Service, Probation, Victim Support who, although not Strategic Board, do meet frequently to agree plans of action.

Our Priorities and Plans
The Partnership has to produce a Community Safety Partnership Plan, which sets out the key priorities for action over the following 3 years.  The Partnership is legally required to refresh its 3 year Community Safety Plan on an annual basis.  It is also required to prepare a thorough review of the patterns of crime and disorder in the Borough over the year – known as a 'strategic assessment'. It is this strategic assessment, which provides the evidence base to enable an informed 'refresh' of the Plan.

Our work program
A work program has been produced to ensure that the Partnership meets the guidance to effective partnership working and sets out what it will be working on over the next year.

Our Constitution
This document sets out in some details, the purpose of the partnership and how it should operate.
