Radiation Monitoring

The Council no longer monitors radiation levels in the Borough. This had previously been carried out for many years following the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident in 1986. The Council used both continuous and instantaneous measuring equipment and levels were consistently found to be low and well within guidelines. Monitoring ceased following an equipment failure when it was deemed no longer cost efffective to continue.
