Gosport Borough Council has introduced a system of public access to our food inspection ratings known as Safe2eat. From the 13th June the public will be able to check on the food safety compliance of all food businesses in the Borough as assessed during routine inspections. The score is based on national guidelines issued by the Food Standards Agency and rates premises as Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory or Excellent. The majority of premises are rated as satisfactory, those premises rated as unsatisfactory will be subject to enhanced enforcement procedures to improve compliance.
It is hoped to develop an awards scheme for premises rated Excellent.
The system is subject to a two year trial period, as part of this trial the comments of the public are welcome on how the site works and its value to them. Please send any comments that you would like to be considered to
