Licensing

The Licensing team consists of a Principal Environmental Health Officer, a Senior Licensing officer and two Licensing Officers plus Administrative support.

The team covers several areas designed to protect public safety or promote public confidence in activities that may otherwise be open to abuse.

These consist of the registration of Licensed Premises and Persons under the terms of the Licensing Act 2003 [sale of alcohol, the provision of regulated entertainment (music live and recorded, dancing, cinema & theater) late night refreshment], the regulation of taxis and private hire vehicles, drivers and operators, street trading, pet shops, charity collection, registration of skin piercing activities and other miscellaneous licences / registrations.

The team also has duties under the terms of the Gambling Act 2005 for the licensing of premises (not persons).

 Fees and charges that are not set by central government are reviewed annually.
