HSE welcomes people of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds to its web site. If you are looking for information, help or guidance a number of publications have been translated into languages other than English. These translations can be found below.

If you would like to speak to someone in a language other than English, HSE offers a telephone interpreting service.

Internet Translation Services

You may also find one of the internet services below helpful. However, you should be aware that these are based on 'machine' translation, and can only give an approximate idea as to the meaning of the original English text. It is advisable to seek further help  for an accurate interpretation.

Should you attempt to display a webpage in a different language and the characters do not appear (you may see square boxes instead of the required characters), you will need to update your web browser with the correct language.

For Internet Explorer, in the browser, click View > Encoding > More, then select the appropriate language you require. It may be that support for this language does not exist on your PC. In this instance a new window will open suggesting you download appropriate files from the Microsoft website. Follow these instructions and the files should be transferred to your PC. For these files to take effect, it may be necessary to shutdown and restart your PC.

Since Poland joined the EU in 2004, hundreds of thousands of Polish workers have joined the UK workforce. A Polish language website to support Polish workers in the UK is now available. The website is run by the TUC in partnership with Citizens Advice Bureau and Solidarnosc and explains the rights employees can expect at work, including health and safety protection, working times and hours of work, holiday entitlement and sick pay. There's also information about social issues such as housing and personal health and guidance about what living and working in the UK is really like.
