A MEETING OF THE GRANTS SUB-BOARD
WAS HELD ON 26 AUGUST 2004
The Mayor (ex-officio), Chairman of the Policy and Organisation Board (Councillor Hook) (ex-officio), Councillors Mrs Batterbury (P), Chegwyn (P), Dickson (P), Hayward (P), Taylor (P) and Wright.
It was reported that, in accordance with Standing Orders, Councillor Mrs Cully had been nominated to attend this meeting in place of Councillor Wright.
1. APOLOGY
An apology for inability to attend the meeting was submitted on behalf of Councillor Wright.
2. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE-CHAIRMAN
RESOLVED: That Councillors Taylor and Dickson be appointed Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively of the Sub-Board for the Municipal Year 2004/05.
3. MINUTES
RESOLVED: That the Minutes of the meeting of the Sub-Board held on 26 May 2004 be approved and signed by the Chairman as a true and correct record.
4. EXCLUSION OF THE PUBLIC
RESOLVED: That under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting for the under-mentioned items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 7 of Part I of Schedule 12A of the Act.
5. REPORT OF THE FINANCIAL SERVICES MANAGER AND THE LEISURE AND AMENITIES SERVICES MANAGER: REVENUE GRANT AID APPLICATIONS
Consideration was given to the exempt joint report of the Financial Services Manager and Leisure and Amenities Services Manager (a copy of which is inserted in the Minute Book as Appendix ‘A’) concerning a number of applications for Revenue Grant Aid.
RESOLVED: That -
(i) the application from SVA Disability Awareness UK be deferred and that the applicants be invited to attend the next meeting of the Sub-Board;
(ii) the application from Help in Bereavement be deferred and that the applicants be invited to attend the next meeting of the Sub-Board;
(iii) a grant of £500 be paid to Fareham and Gosport MIND;
(iv) a grant of £300 be paid to Fareham and Gosport Challenge and Adventure;
(v) a grant of £400 be paid to Hampshire County Youth Band Association and a request be made for a performance to be to given at one of the Council’s sheltered housing schemes;
(vi) Gosport Youth Council be invited to meet officers to investigate ways in which the Council could assist them in-house. Should it be not possible to assist in this way, that the application be brought back to the Sub-Board;
(vii) a grant of £200 be paid to Holbrook Pre School;
(viii) a grant of £220 be paid to Gosport Amateur Operatic Society; and
(ix) officers investigate the appropriate funding source and write to the Friends of Stokes Bay (the applicant) with this information.
6. REPORT OF THE FINANCIAL SERVICES MANAGER AND THE LEISURE AND AMENITIES SERVICES MANAGER: CAPITAL GRANT AID APPLICATIONS
Consideration was given to the exempt joint report of the Financial Services Manager and the Leisure and Amenities Services Manager (a copy of which is inserted in the Minute Book as Appendix “B”) concerning a number of applications for Capital Grant Aid.
RESOLVED: That a grant of £4,250 be paid to Alverstoke Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club
