Notice is hereby given that an EXTRAORDINARY MEETING of the COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GOSPORT will be held in the TOWN HALL, GOSPORT on WEDNESDAY the TWENTY NINTH DAY of JUNE 2005 at 5.30PM AND ALL MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL ARE HEREBY SUMMONED TO ATTEND TO CONSIDER AND RESOLVE THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS –
1. To receive apologies from Members for their inability to attend the Meeting.
2. Election of Honorary Freeman
In accordance with Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act, 1972, the Council is required to approve the following recommendation:-
“That, the Council, in pursuance of their powers under Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act, 1972, do hereby confer on the Royal Marines, the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Gosport in recognition and acknowledgement of their eminent services and long association with the Borough and that they be granted the Right, Honour and Distinction of marching through the streets of the Borough on all ceremonial occasions with bayonets fixed, drums beating and colours flying.”
