Notice is hereby given that a MEETING of the COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GOSPORT will be held in the TOWN HALL, GOSPORT, on WEDNESDAY the NINTH DAY OF JULY 2003 at 6.00PM AND ALL MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL ARE HEREBY SUMMONED TO ATTEND TO CONSIDER AND RESOLVE THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS -

 

1.      To receive apologies from Members for their inability to attend the

          Meeting.

 

2.      To confirm the Minutes of the Annual and Adjourned Annual and Extraordinary Meetings of the Council held on 14 and 15 May and 25 June 2003 (copies herewith).

 

3.      The Mayor to present a Borough Council Plaque to Dr Anthony Knapman for his long service as a General Practitioner in the Borough.

 

4.      To receive, consider and pass such resolutions as the Council shall deem expedient on the Mayor's communications (if any).

 

5.      To receive Deputations in accordance with Standing Order No 3.5 and to answer Public Questions pursuant to Standing Order No 3.6, such questions to be answered orally during a time not exceeding 15 minutes.

 

        (NOTE:  Standing Order No 3.5 requires that notice of a Deputation should be received by the Borough Solicitor NOT LATER THAN 12 O'CLOCK NOON ON MONDAY, 7 JULY 2003 and likewise Standing Order No 3.6 requires that notice of a Public Question should be received by the Borough Solicitor NOT LATER THAN 12 O'CLOCK NOON ON MONDAY, 7 JULY 2003.)

 

6.      Questions (if any) pursuant to Standing Order No 3.4

 

        (NOTE:  Members are reminded that Standing Order No 3.4 requires that Notice of Question pursuant to that Standing Order must be received by the Borough Solicitor NOT LATER THAN 12 O'CLOCK NOON ON TUESDAY, 8 JULY 2003.)

11.     To appoint representatives to serve on the under-mentioned Outside Bodies:

 

        The Alverstoke Trust

 

        The Council is recommended to confirm Retd Surg Captain T Hall's appointment as a Nominative Trustee on the Alverstoke Trust for a further four-year period up to September 2007.

 

        The Mrs Hamper Fund Charity

 

        The Council is recommended to appoint Mrs M Meson of 43 Milvil Road, Lee-on-Solent as a Representative Trustee on The Mrs Hamper Fund Charity  up to May 2004.   

                                   

12.     School Governors: Minor Authority Representatives 

 

        The Council is requested to determine representation on the following School Governing Bodies for respective four-year periods.

Holbrook Primary Schooland Language Impairment

Unit

Ms M Atkinson has resigned as the Council's representative.

That as no nomination was forthcoming at the Adjourned Annual Council meeting on 15 May 2003, the Council is requested to further consider filling this vacancy for a four-year period.

 

 Elson Junior School

Councillor Farr has resigned as the Council's representative.

That as no nomination was forthcoming at the Adjourned Annual Council meeting on 15 May 2003, the Council is requested to further consider filling this vacancy for a four-year period.

 

Lee-on-the-Solent Infant School

Mrs Nicola Hewitt of 4 Smeeton Road, Gosport is the current Council Minor Authority representative up to 31 August 2003. Mrs Hewitt has indicated that she would like to continue in office for a further 4 years.

That Mrs Nicola Hewitt of 4 Smeeton Road, Gosport be appointed as the Borough Council's Minor Authority representative for a further four year period.
