A MEETING of the COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GOSPORT was held in the Council Chamber at the TOWN HALL, GOSPORT on WEDNESDAY, the TENTH day of JULY 2002 at 6.OO PM.

Also in attendance: Honorary Aldermen Mrs Bailey, Foster and O'Neill.
ONE MINUTE'S SILENCE
In order to express their sympathy regarding the recent death of the Mayor, Councillor Geoffrey Bartlett, Members of the Council stood in silent tribute for one minute.
APOLOGY
An apology for inability to attend the meeting was submitted on behalf of Councillor Redrup.
MINUTES
RESOLVED: That the Minutes of the Annual and Annual Adjourned Council Meetings held on 15 and 16 May 2002 be confirmed and signed.
NOTICE OF MOTION
It was reported that, in accordance with Standing Order 3.3.1, the undermentioned Notice of Motion had been received from Councillors Wright and Edgar -
"1. That the Deputy Mayor be made Chair of the Council for the remainder of the Municipal Year.
2. That the Deputy Mayor be asked to involve the Mayoress in events wherever possible.
3. That out of respect for the memory of Councillor Bartlett, the Mayoress, Mrs Rosemary Bartlett, be allowed to continue to wear the chain of office."
Upon the Motion being put to the meeting, it was declared CARRIED.
