AN EXTRAORDINARY  MEETING of the COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GOSPORT was held in the Council Chamber at the TOWN HALL, GOSPORT on WEDNESDAY, the TWENTY NINTH day of JUNE 2005 at  5.30 PM.

ELECTION OF HONORARY FREEMAN
 
 
It was unanimously RESOLVED:
 
That, the Council, in pursuance of their powers under Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act, 1972, do hereby confer on the Royal Marines, the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Gosport in recognition and acknowledgement of their eminent services and long association with the Borough and that they be granted the Right, Honour and Distinction of marching through the streets of the Borough on all ceremonial occasions with bayonets fixed, drums beating and colours flying.
