Gosport Youth Council

Gosport Youth Council
The GYC is a group of approximately 8 young people who help to get the views of young people from Gosport heard.  It is an organisation run by young people for young people.

We represent you if you are aged between 11 and 19 and you live in the borough of Gosport. We tackle issues that affect you as young people and we get involved in projects such as Gosport Summer Passport, the Royanne Twinning and Youth Award 2016.

A recent survey was carried out on Survey Monkey in December 2015 and a summary of the results can be found here.

These were discussed at the meeting in January and a Youth Conference is now being planned for Thursday 14th April 2016, at St Vincent College.  The conference will focus on career opportunities as a result of the survey with some inspiring local young people as guest speakers, workshops on topics such as CV writing and interview skills and stalls with information about volunteering, apprenticeships and much more.

If you would like to get involved in planning the conference or help with other issues affected young people, come along to the next meeting, new members are always welcome!

Wednesday 6th April 2016, 5pm Gosport Discovery Centre

Free refreshments are provided.  If you like the sound of the youth council or want to find out more email – sam.mitchell@gosport.gov.uk or call 02392 545232 or text 07985 234367.
