About the pledge:
Our homes account for approximately a quarter of all Carbon Dioxide released into our atmosphere, the main greenhouse gas which contributes towards climate change. Each household in the UK may produce up to 6 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide every year as a direct result of just simple day-to-day living from heating, cooking and using electrical appliances.
The Carbon Pledge Project has been created to enable Gosport residents to do their bit for the environment in a simple and straight forward way. It takes little time and no money but should have huge rewards now and in the future!
The project sets out 10 easy to follow energy saving measures, which will cost nothing to do and may reduce each *household’s carbon footprint by 2 tonnes and save around £250 per year on household bills.
In return for your pledge, we will send you an information pack, which will include some practical advice and some freebies to get you started. In addition, you will be awarded with a certificate and your name will be added to the Gosport Borough Council’s Wall of Fame board, which may be located in main reception (date and location to be confirmed).
